Wrendesvous
Sculptural birdbaths by Wayne Jeffery
A place for birds to meet.
There is something joyful about a garden coming to life.
Birds arrive. People gather. The seasons change around it.
Wayne's Wrendesvous birdbaths were created to become part of that life — sculptural pieces inspired by blue wrens, branches and the organic forms of the Australian landscape.
And the name?
A Wrendesvous is a rendezvous for wrens — a place for birds to meet.
"Every piece tells two stories.
The life the steel has lived.
The life it becomes in art."
Wayne Jeffery

Wrendesvous No.1
This Wrendesvous brings together many of the elements that have become signatures of Wayne's work — flowing branches, native birdlife and the movement of nature recreated in steel.
Blue wrens perch amongst the branches around the water, turning a functional birdbath into a small piece of sculpture.
From a distance, the form becomes part of the garden.
Come closer and the details begin to reveal themselves — a bird tucked into a branch, the curve of the steel, the marks left by the making process.
Like all of Wayne's work, it isn't intended to look manufactured or perfectly repeated. It carries the individuality of something made by hand and designed to continue changing as it settles into its surroundings.

Giving steel another life
Reclaimed and repurposed steel has always been part of Wayne's artistic practice.
A discarded piece, an interesting curve or an offcut left from another work may sit quietly until Wayne sees what it could become.
Wrendesvous continues that story. Steel once made for another purpose is reshaped into branches, leaves and birds — beginning another life in the garden.
Bring Wrendesvous home
Wayne creates Wrendesvous birdbaths individually, with each piece developing its own character through the birds, branches and details he incorporates.
